Manor Farmhouse, Helpringham

The earliest part of the house dates back to the 14th century and the main part of   the house was built in 1705. It is a listed building, empty since the 1980s, it is hoped it will be restored to its former glory.

The Ireland family have owned the farmhouse and worked Manor farm, mostly arable farming, since 1927. At this time local farming produced grain as a cash crop, stored in stacks with thatch roofs and threshed during the winter.

During the Second World War Manor Farmhouse was occupied by the army and prisoners of war worke don the farm. Some stayed on and lived in the farmhouse and stayed working on the farm until 1980.
